MADISON NC – Saturday afternoon marked the end of a long and successful run for Bobby McCarty and Nelson Motorsports. At the conclusion of Saturday’s season finale at Caraway Speedway, McCarty confirmed that he will not return to Nelson Motorsports in 2023.
McCarty stated, “It’s been an honor to drive for Barry (Nelson) and Nelson Motorsports for the last five years. As an organization, we have accomplished so much on the racetrack with three CARS Tour championships and numerous wins. I can’t thank each person enough that has been a part of the success we have achieved over the last few years. I will be forever grateful for the opportunity given to drive the 22 for Nelson Motorsports the last five years.”
McCarty and Nelson Motorsports competed full time in the CARS Tour since 2018. During that five-year run, they racked up three CARS Tour LMSC championships, 10 wins, 30 tops fives and 50 top tens and 5 poles in 61 starts.
Looking ahead McCarty added, “After a lot of consideration this was the best move for me personally and for the path, I want my racing career to go. I have the full support of my family as well as current and new partners for our racing plans in 2023. I am excited about the challenge and opportunity that 2023 will present.”
McCarty will make a formal announcement in the coming weeks on his racing plans for 2023.
